In 1929, Josef Eschner invented the roll parachute, which his test jumper Karl Simandl used in England in 1938 to set the world record for the “LOWEST EVER AIRJUMP” from a height of only 45 meters. His patent had a significant influence on the development of small, fast-opening rescue parachutes, as did his development of the first steerable delta wing in 1937.

One of the central tasks of our time is to preserve art, culture, and technology from the past. Because true progress also requires looking back: Awareness of our roots – and the ability to bring history to life and make it tangible.

We can be proud of our PIONEERS, who used their imagination, invested their money, and often risked their lives.

We want to thank many of them by creating this museum to honor all these outstanding achievements, because without THEM, this progress in aviation history would certainly not have been possible.
